“A render farm is a computer cluster built to render computer-generated imagery (CGI), typically for film and television visual effects, using off-line batch processing. The rendering of images is a highly parallelizable activity, as each frame usually can be calculated independently of the others, with the main communication between processors being the upload of the initial source material, such as models and textures, and the download of the finished images.” Wikipedia 2009
So basically it means we can produce high resolution images and animations very quickly. The time spent producing images can be limited by production timelines and deadlines, but this is not the case with our farm. Short deadlines can be met with ease and flexibility.
